Scenic view of green rolling hills, farmland, and a small farm with barns, surrounded by trees, under a partly cloudy sky.

Nestled amongst the hills, woodlands and meadows of Uldale Farm, Uldale Escapes was created from a simple belief: modern life moves too fast.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to step away from screens, schedules and everyday demands and reconnect with nature, loved ones and themselves.

Whether you're staying in one of our woodland cabins, exploring the countryside from a PenPod, or simply spending time outdoors, our aim is the same: to create spaces where people can slow down, recharge and enjoy the restorative power of nature.

Rooted
in the Landscape

Uldale Farm sits between the Yorkshire Dales and the Eden Valley, surrounded by rolling countryside, woodland and open fell.

Farming remains at the heart of what we do, but we're equally passionate about caring for the landscape. Through woodland creation, habitat restoration and regenerative land management, we're working to leave the land healthier and richer for future generations.

A Family Venture

Uldale Escapes was founded by Matt and Libby Hancocks and their sons, James and Charles.

After moving to Uldale Farm in 2020, the family began restoring both the farm and the surrounding landscape. What started as a vision for a sustainable family farm has grown into a wider ambition: sharing this special place with others and creating opportunities for people to experience the peace, beauty and wellbeing that nature provides.

A Place for Wildlife

Red squirrels are a familiar and much-loved part of life at Uldale. Often seen visiting the feeders throughout the day, they’ve become a quiet highlight for guests, bringing a sense of connection to the landscape and its wildlife.

In a part of the country where red squirrels are increasingly rare, their presence here feels especially special and a memorable part of the experience of spending time in this landscape.

More Than a Place to Stay

We're not a holiday park or a resort.

We're a working farm, a family home and a place where people can experience something increasingly rare: space, quiet and connection.

Whether you come seeking adventure, rest, reflection or simply a break from everyday life, we hope you leave feeling refreshed, renewed and inspired by the natural world around you.

Wild places. Comfortable spaces. Unforgettable adventures.
